Sasha Pinto: In the Words of Brown Fashion Week Speakers

  • "I was so proud of you the other night… You were a delight and no doubt are the pride of your peers and all those who joined. I once again thank you for including me, for allowing me to participate and conducting such an enjoyable hour….You have been such a delight to communicate with, so lovely and made all so easy... Whatever you need, counsel, reference, talks, a set of ears, whatever is helpful and of service as you embark on next chapter. I couldn't mean that more or hope you call on me to be a shepherd of sorts. In the meantime, I feel so fortunate our paths have crossed and will be thinking of you as you navigate these last weeks as a Brown Senior."

    — Sarah Jessica Parker

  • “Seems to me you have won as many gold medals as Simone Biles already and you’re only 22. I cannot imagine where you will end up. And I wouldn’t be surprised if I read about your successes… If life and career were a horse race, my two dollars would be on you to win… Keep me informed on where you end up so that, if it is a publicly traded company, I will buy into the stock.”

    — Stuart Weitzman

  • “I remain genuinely impressed with what you were able to make happen on behalf of Brown at such a difficult time... Thank you again for all that you do and would welcome a chance to discuss your professional goals and aspirations with you at the right time."

    — Kenneth Cole

  • "It has been my absolute pleasure to talk to you and be with all of you. I am very honored you have given to me this opportunity, and I have been very touched by your genuine and enthusiastic interest in my life, career and Saint Laurent....I wish you all the best and send to you my warmest regards..."

    — Francesca Bellettini, CEO, Yves Saint Laurent

  • If I need a press agent, I’m assuming I can find you, Sasha… What you’ve done, first of all, is extraordinary… it’s so difficult to get so much done today but to have pulled together so many [people] to focus on a very specific agenda and message is truly uplifting and inspiring at a time when we all need it so badly, and is a tribute. So thank you for what you apparently do all the time--and I don’t know how you do it--but thank you for tonight.

    — Kenneth Cole live on air, in response to his introduction by Sasha Pinto

  • "I enjoyed being part of the panel earlier this week. Thank you again for the invitation. I was quite impressed by the Fashion@Brown program you and your team developed. Enjoy your last few months at Brown and all the best for the next chapter once you graduate."

    —Patrice Louvet, CEO, Ralph Lauren

  • "I had a truly wonderful time being back on campus and meeting you and the fashion@brown team – and having the opportunity to share my love for our industry....Thank you for making it all happen and taking such good care of us. It served as a strong reminder of why I feel so proud to be part of the Brown community. And the lineup you assembled is immensely impressive. WOW!"

    — Marc Karimzadeh, Editorial & Communications Director, CFDA

  • “Congratulations on putting on a terrific event.”

    — Vanessa Friedman, Fashion Director & Chief Fashion Critic, The New York Times

A Warm Recommendation for Sasha Pinto

When Sasha Pinto contacted me to ask if I would write a reference on her behalf for upcoming job interviews, I was delighted to do so and immediately wrote a heartfelt letter speaking to her directly, which she could forward to potential employers as necessary.

Since the convention for letters of these nature is to direct them to the employer, however, I am adding this introduction but will let my original words to Sasha, below, speak for themselves.

October 1, 2020

Dear Sasha,

I suppose you will be starting your career once your last year at Brown winds down next semester. I have some thoughts for you and for whichever companies are fortunate to snag an interview with you.

The efficient and meticulous way you organized my visit at Brown leads me to believe that your organization skills are probably among your best. Great turnout, very efficiently run, and lots of fun. I did not feel that anything was missing. Last year prior to visiting Brown, I was similarly invited to 14 other colleges and universities. Did I tell you before I left that I ranked my time at Brown behind no other?

And the way you promoted the event; the way you marketed it so that I had a much larger than expected audience. It was hard to turn a corner on the campus without seeing the posters of my visit. I am sure you will make good use of these communication and marketing skills wherever your heart leads you.

Hang onto your super nice nature. There is nothing more important than that in leading and building a team. I have the impression they will love working with you.

Perhaps because I am partial to the world of fashion, I suggest you consider a career in that field. You seem to have a natural feel for it. Several members in your Fashion Club made that clear to me. That said, you would be an asset to any organization in any field you choose.

If it sounds like I would hire you had I not already sold my business, well, that’s because I would.

Get out there and kill ‘em.

Stuart
